The 2007 Syrah includes 6% Mourvedre and 2% Viognier in the blend. It appears the aim was to produce a northern Rhone-styled wine (such as Cote Rotie) in Napa. A dark garnet/plum color is followed by a fragrant, peppery nose of exotic fruits, spice box, lavender, and sweet currants and cherries. The delicious 2005 Syrah exhibits classic blackberry and cassis characteristics intermixed with notions of camphor, creosote, and charred oak.
