This 2020 Shiraz St Jakobi is pert and frisky and plump and creamy, all at once. The acid feels a little lively for the concentrated fruit, but it certainly freshens things up. The fruit is streamlined and red, very pretty, and it captures the essence of the Barossa.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Shiraz St Jakobi gives an earthy nose of fertile loam, tree bark and dried leaves over a core of baked blackberries and preserved plums with a touch of licorice. Full-bodied with tons of black fruit preserves and earthy flavors, the muscular fruit has a great foundation of firm, chewy tannins and just enough acidity, finishing with very good length.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 St. Jakobi Shiraz begins with quite a meaty and earthy nose before opening up to a core of warm blackberries and blueberries with a hint of anise. Full-bodied and nicely poised in the mouth, it offers both plenty of fruit and finesse within a frame of very finely grained tannins, balanced acid and a great, lengthy finish. Drink it now to 2020+. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 Shiraz St Jakobi was aged 20 months in 80% French and 20% American oak hogsheads. It opens with lovely warm blueberry and aniseed notes laced with coffee, Indian spices, tree bark and lavender. Big, full-bodied and rich, it retains crisp acidity, a medium-firm level of rounded tannins before finishing opulent and long. Approachable now, drink it to 2022+. Aged for 20 months in new and older French and American hogsheads, the 2009 St Jakobi Shiraz presents a deep garnet-purple color and yeasty / toasty notes over a core of mulberries, warm plums, spice cake, vanilla and chocolate box. The palate provides plenty of juicy, mouth-filling fruit with a solid foundation of medium-firm velvety tannins and refreshing acid, finishing long and spicy. Drink this one now to 2019+.
