The Deinhard 2004 Scheurebe Kabinett (from the Ruppertsberger Linsenbusch, but the V.D.P. now requests that growers limit vineyard-designation to wines crafted from approved, leading grape varieties, which in the Pfalz means Riesling and the Burgundian sorts) is like a vinous breath mint. Delicate in frame, it nevertheless exudes aromas and flavors of sage, licorice, cassis, grapefruit, and mineral salts. Its slightly satiny texture and long, overtly sweet finish add to the attractions of a wine that is perfect for sipping – or guzzling – on its own.
