Made with Zibibbo (otherwise known as Muscat of Alexandria), the unoaked 2021 Sicilia Lighea shows musky floral aromas that are perfumed and fresh. They can best be categorized under the headings of honey, sage and sweet peach. This is a lovely white wine to enjoy by the glass right before a summer beach dinner. This is a big production of 187,000 bottles.

Zibibbo is the Sicilian name for Muscat of Alexandria. Executed in a dry style, the Donnafugata 2020 Sicilia Zibibbo Lighea is softly floral and fragrant with honeysuckle and perfumed star jasmine that is appropriately called Sicilian jasmine in Italy. This easy, lean-bodied wine has the acidity to cut through fried olives or eggplant balls with mint and breadcrumbs. You get so much easy charm in this bottle. Production is 168,000 bottles.

The Donnafugata 2019 Sicilia Zibibbo Lighea (a certified sustainable wine) opens a new chapter on the Zibibbo grape, also known as Moscato d’Alessandria in Italian. It presents a dry version of a grape that is most often air-dried to make dessert wines. Much like Malvasia from Salina that is also proposed as an easy-drinking table wine, the Lighea would taste great on a terrace at cocktail hour with small bites or tapas. Fragrant jasmine and peach blossom aromas rise from the bouquet of this lean-bodied white. Some 168,000 bottles were released.

The 2018 Sicilia Lighea is a pure expression of Sicily's beloved Zibibbo grape that is otherwise known as Muscat of Alexandria. This is a dry wine; however, there is just enough of that bright floral intensity to remind you of the fragrant nature of this grape that is often used to make dessert wines such as Passito di Pantelleria. The bouquet delivers jasmine and sweet honeysuckle with some soapy perfume notes at the back. This unoaked wine is crisp, lean and simple in terms of mouthfeel. Some 180,000 bottles were made.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with a refreshing value white such as this. The 2017 Sicilia Lighea is a pure expression of the Zibibbo grape otherwise known as Muscat of Alexandria. Perfect for appetizers or finger foods, this dry white wine shows fragrant aromas of honey, star jasmine and summer peach. The finish is lean and crisp.
