The 2019 Pinot Noir Winery Hill Vineyard is particularly expressive this vintage, with concentrated, complex flavors on an impressively lightweight frame. It has a medium ruby color and is bursting with aromatic layers: pomegranate and blackberry are complemented with touches of rooibos tea, orange peel and bitters. The medium-bodied palate has abundant, powdery tannins, mouthwatering acidity and an array of botanical nuances adding intrigue to the finish.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Winery Hill Vineyard has deep red and black berry fruits on the nose with an earthy undercurrent. The palate is medium-bodied with plush, juicy, generous fruit and a silky smooth texture, finishing with classy oak spices.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Winery Hill Vineyard comes from Dijon clone vines at 900 feet of elevation and was aged 17 months in 45% new French oak. Pale ruby-garnet, it has a nose of gravel dust, black tea leaves, mushroom, tree bark, bay leaf, cinnamon stick and clove with fragrant earth, dried roses and potpourri. Medium-bodied, it offers amaro-laced fruits and spices in the mouth with a firm, grainy frame and long, bitters-laced finish. A compelling wine from Domaine Serene—very different from the rest of the lineup and absolutely delicious.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Winery Hill Vineyard comes from south and west-facing vines, and is matured in 57% new French oak for 16 months. It has more red berry fruit on the nose than the Fleur de Lis - raspberry, crushed strawberry and wilted rose petals all with commendable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with mulberry, redcurrant, brown spices and a touch of black pepper. I just find the finish needing a little more finesse - it seems a little muscular at the moment, so afford it a couple of more years in bottle.

The 2009 Pinot Noir Winery Hill Vineyard is also made from Dijon clones. It delivers a lovely nose of spicy red fruits, incense, cinnamon, and cherry blossom. Savory, ripe, and smooth textured, it has the balance and structure to evolve for another 1-2 years. It deftly captures the best features of the 2009 vintage. Domaine Serene’s Chardonnays are outstanding and fairly priced for what they deliver. They are all made entirely from Dijon clones, barrel-fermented, and aged on the lees.Tel.
