The 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Br?lées soars from the glass with aromas of cherries, cassis, raw cocoa, burning embers, espresso roast, exotic spices and orange rind. Full-bodied, velvety and complete, it's exquisitely balanced, with a deep and concentrated core of fruit framed by melting tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, resonant finish.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Br?lées is brilliant, bursting with notes of cherries, plums, raw cocoa, exotic spices, blood orange and espresso roast. Full-bodied, layered and perfumed, its satiny attack segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate and a long, perfumed finish. Seamless and complete, this will be well worth a special effort to seek out.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Br?lées is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with an exquisite bouquet of sweet red berries, cherries, orange rind, smoked duck and exotic spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and enveloping wine framed by velvety tannins and succulent acids, concluding with a long and youthfully chalky finish. From a parcel planted in the 1930s, I often think that Aux Br?lées is Méo's finest wine; and while I'd give the Cros Parantoux the edge this year, it is a superb effort.

Tasted from bottle, Méo's 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Br?lées lives up to its fine performance from barrel last year, bursting with expressive aromas of sweet red berries and plums that mingle with nuances of orange rind, exotic spices, raw cocoa and rose hip. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, supple and velvety, with a deep core, powdery tannins and lively animating acidity, concluding with a long and perfumed finish.
