The 2015 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Planchots du Nord comes from vines that surround the winery located just past the A6 auto-route to the north of Beaune. The nose is quite intense with red cherries, raspberry coulis and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, quite a masculine, tensile Savigny-les-Beaune with a linear finish that will hopefully gain some flesh by the time of bottling. I like the focus and energy, so it could turn out to be a delicious Savigny.

Discreet notes of wood and menthol set off earthy dark currant and forest floor scents. There is a slightly finer texture to the medium weight flavors that are at once rich but focused while offering just a bit more overall depth and length on the balanced and slightly firmer finale.

An exceptionally fresh red berry fruit nose is liberally laced with earth nuances that can also be found on the vibrant, round and delicious flavors that deliver good if not excellent persistence. This is on the lighter side but I like both the mouth feel and the balance. To enjoy on the younger side.

The 2013 Savigny les Beaune les Planchots du Nord has a very attractive bouquet in the making with expressive raspberry preserve and strawberry scents, not complex but pure. The palate is very poised with chalky tannin, tightly-knit strawberry fruit and a sense of symmetry on the precise if short finish. Enjoy this over the next 5 or 6 years.

A very pretty nose of various red berry fruit scents is layered with earth and herbal tea nuances. There is good detail and as well as a lovely sense of energy to the medium weight flavors that conclude in a balanced, delicious and lingering finish. This is not super refined but it's certainly attractive and is fashioned in a forward style that will allow it to be enjoyed young if desired.
