The 2016 Gevrey Chambertin, matured in 10% new oak, has a gentle bouquet that feels timid at first, then gains confidence to offer raspberry coulis and crushed strawberry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, not as structured as the Morey-Saint-Denis, prioritizing precision on the finish. This should drink well for several years.

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Villages was also showing some reduction, although I detected just a little more precision on the nose compared to the Chambolle-Musigny. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-like freshness on the entry, bright red cherry and strawberry fruit that combine harmoniously on the zesty finish. Very fine - I can see this giving pleasure over the next 10-12 years.

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin Villages is matured in used oak barrels. It has a more citric bouquet compared to the Chambolle Musigny Village, but with pleasant brightness and vigor. The palate is fresh and vibrant with chalky tannin, quite Morey-like in terms of its austere finish, but it should fill out by the time of bottling.
