    Made with organically farmed fruit, the 2015 Aglianico del Molise is a very ripe, almost sticky interpretation of this structured and austere red grape planted across Southern Italy. The wine is dark and rich, although its fiber is softer and more succulent compared to Aglianico from cooler Irpinia (in Campania). You do get those astringent tannins on the close. The wine ages in stainless steel only. Some 30,000 bottles were made.

    The 1999 Aglianico (100% Aglianico) reveals a dense ruby/purple color as well as an intriguing perfume of licorice, minerals, scorched earth, black currants, and blackberries. There is also a Syrah-like component to the aromatics. In the mouth, it is rich with spicy new oak notes, great purity, and a saturated, mouthfilling style. It should drink well for 5-6 years. The brilliant winemaker Riccardo Cotarella is now performing his magic at this estate, which should be sought out by readers seeking stunning wine values.     This wine exhibits a deep ruby color, and an earth, smoke, roasted herb, and dried fruit-scented bouquet. In the mouth, it is complex and deep, with medium body, a spicy, berry, meaty-flavored personality, and a robust finish. It should continue to drink well for 2-3 years.
