The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a deeply primary red wine that is teeming with vibrant fruit and dark intensity. The wine is a bit edgy and raw, and you are treated to a full dose of that scorching hot 2017 summer sunshine. Blackberry, prune and plum emerge from the bouquet. This is a terrific entry-level red that shows soft tannins and a generous, succulent quality of fruit. It ages in botte grande for six months. Some 60,000 bottles were made.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is a tight and slightly nervous red wine with ample aromatic personality that focuses on red fruit, cassis, grilled herb, leather and spicy tobacco. The 2014 vintage was cool and wet towards the end of the growing season and the wine shows some sharp and thorny qualities as a result. Those probably won't soften with time but if paired correctly (with succulent meat or cheesy pasta dishes) the wine should find a successful food match.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a compact and lean expression of the noble French grape that shows background tones of bramble and Mediterranean herb that give the wine an all-Italian personality. That extra sharpness is particularly evident in the mouth where the wine also presents silky tannins, bright berry highlights and tangy acidity. All said and done, it may be a little too edgy for those who appreciate a softer style.

A racy, exuberant wine, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Terre degli Osci is another red that overdelivers. Juicy dark plums, grilled herbs and menthol flesh out on the finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon stands for its textural finesse and length, both of which are rare for wines in this price range. This distinctive, beautiful wine is best enjoyed over the next few years.
