Located near La Lagune and Cantemerle, this estate is now certified organic. The 2022 Paloumey is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It has expressive aromas of tobacco leaf, cherries, plum and graphite. It’s medium-bodied, supple and juicy, but there is also alluring freshness and elegant tannins, although the finish is a touch austere.

This certified organic estate is located in the fine gravel and sandy soils of the southern Médoc, not far from La Lagune and Cantemerle. Bursting with aromas of sweet berries, plums and tobacco leaf, it's medium-bodied, ample and velvety, with supple tannins and a typically elegant, charming profile.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Paloumey gives up vague scents of red and black plums and sautéed herbs with faint wafts of tobacco and charcoal. The medium-bodied palate has appealing freshness and approachable tannins, if a little light on the mid-palate fruit and short on the finish.

I somewhat underrated the suave, elegant 2019 Paloumey when I tasted it from bottle earlier this year. Wafting from the glass with scents of sweet cherries, red berries, rose petals, spices and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with melting tannins, bright fruit flavors and a long, saline finish. It's the first vintage certified organic at this address.

The 2018 Paloumey exhibits aromas of ripe cherries, berries, licorice and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy palate framed by chewy tannins that assert themselves on the finish. It's a successful wine, but it's atypically broad-shouldered and powerful for this elegant-styled estate.
