The 2018 1902 Centenary Carignan reveals powerful aromas of toasted barrels, smoked meat and fried corn. It's heady and ripe at 15% alcohol and has a generous and full-bodied palate. It's a very powerful wine lifted by very good freshness (the miracle of old Cari?ena!). A wine for the long haul. 900 bottles were filled in April 2020.

Even if the oak treatment for the 2017 1902 Centenary Carignan is the same as for the Centenary Grenache (16 months in new oak), it seems like the clout and depth of the wine has made it better integrated. It's quite spicy, but the floral character of violets that the variety is capable of comes through quite noticeably. 2017 was one of the earliest and lowest-yielding years in recent times, and the wine has concentration and ripeness but also balance and elegance. This is vibrant and has bright flavor coupled with great freshness. This will be better with some more time in bottle. Only 900 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2019.

There are strong aromas on the nose of the 2016 1902 Centenary Carignan, not that far off from those of the Doix from the same year, with floral notes intermixed with hints of graphite and wet slate, a touch of tree bark and earth and lots of aromatic herbs, reminiscent of the landscape of the Priorat. The palate reveals abundant, slightly dusty tannins with the electric freshness of the year. 984 numbered bottles were filled in April 2018.
