The 2005 Crianza is made up of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot aged for 12 months in French oak. Aromas of spice box, damp earth, black currant, and blackberry are followed by a wine with some elegance, savory flavors, a bit of structure, and good length. Drink it over the next 5 years. The 2001 Crianza is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. It is medium ruby-colored with an enticing bouquet of toasty red currants, violets, and earth notes. The extra years of bottle age lend it a sophistication that belies its friendly price. The 2000 Crianza Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in color. It delivers a lovely perfume of smoke, spice, red currants, and blackberries that jumps from the glass. It offers sweeter, suppler, riper fruit than its younger (and more expensive) sibling. This focused wine has a long, pure finish. A reasonably good value in Cabernet, the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Crianza possesses a dark ruby/purple color in addition to an intriguing nose of spice box, cedar, prunes, plums, and a hint of overripe black currants.
