Thanks to a single night of skin contact, the 2016 Rosato opens to a luminous pink color with bright ruby highlights. The quality of the fruit is excellent in 2016 and the wine’s bouquet is bright, fresh and tonic as a result. Limestone-rich soils have helped to give the wine focused aromatic contours with some spicy fruit and dry mineral. But the wine is soft and supple at its core.

Based on Sangiovese (with a small component of Merlot), the 2015 Rosato opens to a dark pink or raspberry color that is very typical of Rosé wines made off of Sangiovese skins. You might even notice a very faint purplish or blue hue at the back. The bouquet is pungent and zesty with dried raspberry, blueberry and a touch of bitter almond.

Castello di Ama offers one of the best Rosé wines found anywhere in the Chianti Classico region, and they have been making it since 1982. The 2014 Rosato is mostly Sangiovese with a small part Merlot made in the saignée method in order to achieve its beautifully tonic and luminous pink color. The bouquet is balanced and forthcoming with raspberry and cranberry, followed by bitter almond and a touch of wild herb. The wine's acidity is extra fresh and zesty, making it a great companion to fried foods or tempura.
