The 2020 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is a delight to drink. The character of this vintage is more accessible for sure, and the fruit is very bright and supple. But there's no harm in drinking this warm-vintage release of 7,500 bottles on the early side while all its primary aromas are so intact and enticing. The tannins are soft, and the wine shows medium richness to close.

Compared to the Rio Sordo, the Cascina delle Rose 2018 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is slightly more robust and open-knit. This wine shows a more overt concentration that comes across with blackberry and wild cherry. To the palate, it shows a smooth but nicely elaborate texture. There are light touches of crushed stone and even some tobacco on the close. Some 6,000 bottles were released.

Tre Selle and Rio Sordo are the two adjacent vineyards farmed by Cascina delle Rose. This boutique, family-run winery is happy with results in 2017, although this vintage was characterized by three full months with no rain. Giovanna Rizzolio's family farm measures under two hectares in Tre Stelle. Their 2017 Barbaresco Tre Stelle boasts an open personality with medium concentration and build. The bouquet reveals pretty floral and fruity tones. Tre Stelle plays strong cards in terms of mouthfeel, with dark Nebbiolo fruit and spice flavors supported by a firm textural backbone. There are some dusty mineral notes on the close. Production is 6,000 bottles.

The 2016 Barbaresco Tre Stelle, tasted from barrel, is a darkly concentrated and rich expression of Nebbiolo with lots of black fruit packed tight at its core. The wine was technically unfinished when I tasted it; however, reading between the lines, you get a sense of the deep and profound nature of the fruit in 2016. I see this vintage turning out very nicely. Some 4,900 bottles were produced.

The 2015 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is a balanced and well-tempered expression of Nebbiolo. This pretty wine opens to bright aromas of blue violets, rose hip and forest berry. The main theme here is finesse, and it is fully explored from start to finish, from nose to palate. This is a lean-bodied wine with silky, long intensity.
