The partially oak-aged Cantina Terlano 2020 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Lunare is fragrant, sweet and rich. With fruit from a hot vintage, the wine is weighty and sticky in places, and it concludes with a powerful and unexpected 15% alcohol content. The bouquet shows dried apricot, almond blossom and a collection of candied fruit aromas like you might taste in a Sicilian dessert. It is quite thick in texture, and it moves slowly over the palate with subtle sweetness. Sage and dried herb appear on the delicate finish of this 17,000-bottle production.

It's somewhat unusual to find a Dolomite white clocking in at a 15% alcohol content, but here you go, and it works quite nicely. And even though we're talking about a floral Gewürztraminer, given its playful point of zestiness on the close, you could soak up that strength with a bowl of melted raclette on potatoes, as one would do in the Alps. The Cantina Terlano 2019 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Lunare is perfumed and floral with star jasmine, lemon blossom and acacia flower. The wine has some subtle sweetness as well, and it hits the palate with pretty softness and mild richness. Some 17,000 bottles were produced.

The 2018 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Lunare opens to a luminous off-gold color and substantial aromatic intensity. The bouquet is redolent of sweet peach, honey, candied almond, star jasmine and preserved lemon. This is a generous, full-bodied expression with lots of glycerin, richness and texture that is especially well played in this vintage. There is a subtle note of peachy-sweetness on the finish. The wine ages on the lees for nine months, partially in wooden barrel and partially in stainless steel. Production is 17,000 bottles.

This is a beautifully fragrant and delicate wine that embodies all the crispness and brightness of high-altitude winemaking. The 2016 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Lunare starts off with slow and delicate footprints that grow in intensity and volume the longer you contemplate the wine. This is a medium-bodied white that borders on full-bodied due to the luscious nature of its unique aromatic composition. Floral aromas of wild rose and jasmine appear with sweet honey and passion fruit. Bottle production is 18,000 units strong.

The 2015 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Lunare is a terrific wine that offers the evident softness and floral intensity that you associate with the grape, along with a more elegant and streamlined personality that comes from the cool climate north of Italy. The wine opens to aromas of white rose, star jasmine, honeysuckle and peach blossom. The effect is balanced and fresh, but there is enough density to pair with spicy or exotic dishes. This wine boasts extraordinary textural richness. The wine ages in large oak casks and in stainless steel.
