Bodegas Heras Cordon’s 2007 Vendimia Seleccionada is made up of 90% Tempranillo with the balance Graciano and Mazuelo. It spent 20 months in new, mostly French oak. Purple-colored, it gives up a nose of wood smoke, lavender, spice box, and liqueur-like black fruits. Sweet, supple, and succulent on the palate, this flavorful offering has several years of aging potential and should be at its best from 2013 to 2022. The lineup of new releases begins with the 2005 Vendimia Seleccionada, a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano sourced from vines averaging 35 years of age. The wine was aged for 12 months in new French and American oak and bottled unfiltered. Dark ruby-colored, it delivers a fragrant perfume of cedar, spice box, violets, cinnamon, and blackberry. This leads to an elegant, supple, ripe wine with ample sweet fruit and incipient complexity. It can be enjoyed now and over the next 8-10 years. Bodegas y Vinedos Heras Cordon is one of the showcase wineries of Rioja.
