The 2006 Balcons is a blend of 50% Garnacha, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Merlot and Carinena aged 14 months in French oak. It emits an aromatic array of roasted herbs, liquid mineral, lavender, black cherry, and plum. Smooth-textured, concentrated, and with excellent volume, this well-balanced Priorat will evolve for several years and offer a drinking window extending from 2012 to 2021. Bodegas Pinord is a family-owned estate dating back more than 150 years. The existing winery and cellar was constructed in 1942 and has a capacity of over 5,000,000 bottles. Purple-colored, it delivers a complex perfume of crushed stone, pepper, clove, black cherry, and blueberry. Full-bodied, layered, and ripe, it offers good depth of flavor, soft tannins, and a long, pure finish. Shows true Priorat depth and minerality while pouring on the new oak, char and polish. The mouth is ripe and saturated, with intense raspberry, plum and vanilla flavors.
