The 2005 Vina Chatel Reserva carries a Penedes designation. The wine is a blend of 85% Tempranillo with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It spent 12 months in American oak followed by 2 years in bottle prior to release. Cedar, spice box, a hint of balsamic, and assorted black fruits inform the nose of a savory, ripe, forward wine with a sense of elegance. It comes up a bit short in the finish but at the asking price, it is a good value meant for drinking over the next 4-5 years. Bodegas Pinord produces wine in several DOs including Cava, Penedes, and Ribera del Duero.Importer: Andres Arribas, Wine Associates, Whitehouse Station, NJ
