The Pinord offerings include one wine from Priorat, the 2008 Clos del Music which comes from is a biodynamically farmed, Demeter certified property. Using all 5 permissible grape varieties of the DO (Garnacha, Carinena, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah), the Clos del Music was aged in French oak for 14 months. Cedar, spice box, mineral, lavender, and assorted black fruits compose the nose of this smooth-textured, flavorful, lengthy red. It can be approached now but will benefit from another 3-4 years of bottle age. Bodegas Pinord produces wine in several DOs including Cava, Penedes, and Ribera del Duero. The 2007 Clos de Music is a blend of all 5 permissible grapes of the Priorat DO and produced from biodynamically grown fruit (Demeter certified). It was aged for 14 months in French and American oak. Purple in color with an expressive nose of slate/mineral, espresso, lavender, incense, black cherry, and blackberry, on the palate it displays excellent concentration, layered fruit, enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years, and a lengthy finish. It will provide a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2027. Bodegas Pinord is a family-owned estate dating back more than 150 years. The existing winery and cellar was constructed in 1942 and has a capacity of over 5,000,000 bottles. Both sparkling (Cava) and still wines are produced from Penedes and neighboring Priorat. A deep and dense wine, with coconut and blackberry dominating the weighty, powerful bouquet. This is an organic wine with an explosive palate of berry fruit and plenty of juicy acidity to keep it fresh and healthy.
