The 2017 Pinot Noir Bergstrom Vineyard comes from the original vines planted in 1999. Medium ruby in color, it opens with touches of charcuterie, peppercorn, scorched earth and tar, very slowly segueing to potpourri, leather, wild blackberries and bright red berries with amaro nuances coming through with time. It’s medium-bodied and serious in the mouth with savory and spice-laced fruits, a firm, chalky frame and seamless freshness to lift the finish. This needs at least another couple of years in bottle.

Medium to deep ruby-purple, the 2016 Pinot Noir Bergstrom Vineyard has lovely notions of tar and scorched earth framing summer violet perfume and black cherries/berries on the nose with a touch of blue fruit appearing with aeration. Medium to full-bodied, it’s got a wonderful silky texture in the mouth, with layers of blue and black fruit preserves and perfumed earth, very fine-grained tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long and minerally. 850 cases produced.

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Bergstrom Vineyard has an intoxicating perfume of roses, violets and Chinese five spice with Provence herbs and fertile earth nuances over a core of warm cherries and raspberry preserves. Medium to full-bodied with a firm structure of chewy tannins supporting the generous fruit, it has a lively herbal character that lingers a good long time.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Bergstrom Vineyard has a medium ruby-purple color and earthy nose of black soil, underbrush and truffles with a core of red cherries, black raspberries and black pepper. Medium-bodied with plenty of freshness and chewy in the mouth, it has a savory/earthy palate with a good amount of red berry and peppery layers, finishing with very good persistence.

The 2013 Pinot Noir Bergstrom Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1999 on basalt soils and is 100% whole cluster, not that you can tell on the nose because the stem addition is very discrete. Instead, one finds dark berry fruit, wild mint and wilted rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a slightly savory, almost biscuity opening, plenty of leafy red berry fruit with a balanced and harmonious finish. Drink over the next 8-10 years.
