The 2008 Pinot Noir Tardy is medium ruby red with a charming perfume of exotic spices, sandalwood, underbrush, and wild red berries. On the palate it displays focus and finesse along with a satin texture and excellent balance. Drink this precocious effort through 2018. Steven and Allison Whiteside own Bella Vida Winery. Each of their three Pinot Noir bottlings is made by a different winemaker. Quantities are small ranging from 84 to 125 cases.www.bellavida.com

This is lovely, with an elegance to the ripe red cherry and raspberry fruit, shaded with hints of cinnamon and violet, lingering against polished tannins on the long, harmonious finish. Drink now through 2014. 195 cases made. -HS

The 2006 Pinot Noir Tardy is medium/dark ruby-colored with an attractive nose of spice and red fruits. Smooth textured and easy-going, it wants to be elegant but is in need of more depth and concentration. Drink it over the next several years. Firm in texture and on the tart side, making this a tough-edged wine, but it's not big and brawny, either. It has lovely red cherry flavor and some grace. It could develop with cellaring. Best from 2008 through 2013. 143 cases made. -HS
