This is a terrific wine that I tasted on several occasions, including a memorable outdoor patio lunch on one of the first warm days of spring. The Barone Ricasoli 2019 Torricella is all Chardonnay executed in a bright and zesty style. Some 17,000 bottles were released. The bouquet shines with citrus, minty apple, peach and crushed limestone. The finish is linear, fresh and very much alive. This wine ages on the lees for a brief nine months in oak to achieve this pleasurable style.

A blend of three-fourths Chardonnay and one-fourth Sauvignon Blanc, the Barone Ricasoli 2018 Torricella is fresh and buoyant with stone fruit, pear, Golden Delicious apple and toasted almond. This is a bright and accessible white wine from a predominately red wine corner of Tuscany. However, the limestone-rich soils of the region create good conditions for this carefully fragrant white wine. Enjoy it with a panzanella, a typically Tuscan bread salad soaked in tomato, onions and herbs.
