I still vividly remember this winery's first releases, which were overwhelmingly vegetal and, for me, undrinkable. Obviously things have changed, as this is one of the more impressive Sauvignons I have tasted recently. It is a tasty Sauvignon, with spicy, lemony, melon-like flavors, a touch of vanillin, medium body, and a long, zesty finish. Drink it over the next several years. Those California wineries that are turning out sterile, insipid Sauvignon Blancs could do themselves a favor by taking a look at what Babcock has achieved with this offering.
