The 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo shows sweet and ripe fruit with dried cherry, candied orange and lilac. The wine delivers a firm but lean texture with soft fruit flavors and not much complexity. This vintage shows the extra sweetness that links it to a hot growing season.

The Azelia 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo reveals a delicate fiber and soft intensity with cassis and forest berry. This vintage offers terrific, food-friendly fruitiness and just enough acidity to cut through an easy butter or cheese-based dish. This is a lovely, delicate expression of Nebbiolo that flaunts its simplicity and honesty overall.

Unlike many of its peers, the Azelia 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo is aged only in steel, resulting in a soft, fresh and slightly downplayed expression of the grape. The wine is characterized by its simplicity and a bouquet that hits all the basics but doesn't attempt to offer any special intensity or precision. It's just Nebbiolo, the kind of bright and cheerful wine to pair with a cheese platter and crackers. About 15,200 bottles were produced.

The 2017 Langhe Nebbiolo creeps up on your senses with soft intensity and an elegantly streamlined style. The wine hints at the intensity and power of Nebbiolo in the classic 2016 vintage; however, the focus is squarely on primary aromas. Indeed, this wine is only aged in stainless steel, which is unusual for Langhe Nebbiolo. Production is 19,000 bottles.

The 2016 Langhe Nebbiolo gives us a very encouraging glimpse into the future. Nebbiolo from this cool vintage is phenomenal, and we should have some beautiful surprises very soon when the 2016 Barbarescos and Barolos are released. For now, we can enjoy a wine like this. Aged in stainless steel, this expression opens to a beautiful ruby hue with dark garnet highlights. The effect is crisp, luminous and bright. The varietal purity is especially evident on the bouquet, thanks to cassis, wild rose, blueberry and fresh almond aromas. The vines are 20 years old on average.
