Medium ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir features aromas of cranberries, blackberries and dried orange peel with fine earthy accents in the undercurrent. The palate is light-bodied, soft and fresh with a long, sweet berry and spice-laced finish.

Pale ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir has a pretty perfume of violet, licorice, orange oil and woodsmoke with a core of bright red berries. The medium-bodied palate is perfumed, soft and juicy with a satisfying finish. 49,000 cases were made.

Argyle’s Pinot Noirs begin with the 2009 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley. It is a savory, straightforward effort with ripe flavors, a supple texture, a sense of elegance, and moderate length. The 2008 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley, medium ruby red, it gives up an enticing nose of cedar, spice box, rose petals, cherry, and raspberry. This is followed by a medium-bodied, ripe, vibrant offering with ample spicy red fruit flavors, good volume and intensity, and a medium-long finish. Drink it over the next 4-6 years. Visiting with Rollin Sole, the head man at Argyle, is always a great learning experience. He is currently focused on Riesling, but that is a story for another day.
