The 2014 Pinot Noir was aged for 18 months in one-third new French oak and comes in at 13.5% alcohol. This opened poorly, seeming too light and devoid of fruit and flavor. That said, it evolved very nicely with about 30 minutes of air, expanding a bit in the glass and showing off a juicy finish nuanced by dried cherries. There are moderate tannins for support. It will always have that bright demeanor too. For all of the good things this did, it was overshadowed a bit by the 2015 tank sample tasted next to it. That added more intensity of flavor and fruit. (I'll await a finished bottle for publishing a formal note there, but it is a step up.) Overall, this still does very nicely. Its elegance and freshness make it a perfect food wine. It should age well for several years too. Sourced from plots planted in 1998 and 2007, there were 400 cases produced.
