The red 2017 Peza Do Rei Barrica is also 100% Mencía, and the wine spent 12 months in French oak barrels, which gives it an intense aroma of wood, spices, smoke and toast. There's more ripeness in 2017, the fruit is black rather than red, and there's some rusticity too, along with some dusty tannins. There's too much oak for the wine. For fans of oaky reds. 2,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2019.

The 2010 Peza do Rei Barrica has a clean fresh nose of blackberry, cranberry and a touch of melted tar. The palate is well-balanced with sappy raspberry on the entry. The 2008 Peza do Rei Barrica is 100% Mencia that was aged for 12 months in seasoned oak. It displays more obvious oak notes than the Mencia cuvee along with elements of clove, cinnamon, underbrush, and black cherry. It has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years and will drink well through 2018. Adegas Cachin is a small (8 acres) family owned winery producing just over 4000 cases annually. The 2007 Peza do Rei Tinto Barrica spent 11 months in French oak. Purple-colored with aromas of cedar, mineral, earth, and assorted black fruits, in the mouth it is concentrated, voluminous, spicy, and long.
