Bright, light medium red. Slightly diffuse aromas of strawberry, raspberry and spices. Soft red fruit flavors show decent texture and palate presence but could use a bit more definition and lift. Not bad, but doesn't show the distinction or flavor authority of this producer's sauvignon blanc. (Incidentally, I retasted the 2013 entry-level sauvignon blanc, rated 89 points in last year's coverage of New Zealand. The wine has become more supple without any loss of its citrus, grapefruit and quinine punch, and there's still a bit of CO2 yet to be absorbed. I'll stick with my original rating.)
