The 2006 Petit Verdot was aged in barrel for 24 months. Purple/black in color, it displays an enticing nose of toasty oak, pencil lead, mineral, espresso, licorice, and blackberry. Sweetly fruited, ripe, and full-flavored, it lacks only complexity. However, that may come with another 4-5 years of cellaring. This behemoth has 6-8 years of aging potential and a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2026, probably longer. What a monster this is. Aromas of roasted meat, compost, leather, berry and plum give it a rugged bouquet, while the superripe palate is big as sin and loaded with ultrasweet blackberry, soy and peppery flavors.
