The sweet 2004 Angialis (95 % Nasco, 5% Malvasia di Calabria) is an amber-colored dessert wine redolent of candied orange peel, spices, burnt sugar and candied apricots. The wine possesses gorgeous balance and a long finish in a style that is rich but never excessively heavy. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012.
This line-up from Argiolas is remarkable for so many reasons, but let me just list two; the wines are reference-point bottles that capture the magic of Sardinia’s indigenous grapes; and the wines remain exceedingly fairly priced considering the quality of the juice.
