Bright ruby-red. Aromas of ripe red and dark berries, musky loam and Indian spices. Sappy, penetrating bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors show very good depth and smooth, seamless texture. Gains sweetness with air and finishes with impressive power, supple tannins and lingering spiciness.

Intellectual, elusive and challenging, this wine makes you think. It's dry, silky and crisp in acidity, with complex mushroom, cherry, cola and cedar flavors. It's also a little rustic, but time could help. If you're a gambler, hold it until after 2015.
