The 2014 Chianti Rufina Riserva Poggio Gualtieri boasts a soft, rich and contemporary taste profile, with bright cherry and blackberry. The blend is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot. The wine's first fermentation is in stainless steel, followed by a second fermentation in oak barrel. The aging process takes the wine through both large oak casks and French barrique (equally split between the two) for up to 18 months. This wine shows more plumpness in terms of mouthfeel, but there's no escaping the streamlined and compact characteristics of the 2014 vintage.
