The 2006 Eric Stevens Purbrick Shiraz is sweet on the nose—the freshest so far—and in lovely condition. A wonderful balance is struck here, between old and fresh; the old underscores all of the primary fruit. It shows freshly tanned leather, woodsmoke, eucalypt and bitter cocoa, while the primary fruit carries the vein of blood plum, damson (and even a hint of raspberry here) and blackberry across the mouth. Very good! It's texturally svelte and extremely elegant.
