Poliziano’s 2012 Rosso di Montepulciano opens to a dark, more saturated ruby color with vinous and earthy tones of crushed grape and forest moss. Dark cherry and blackberry set the tone and the wine boasts modern touches of smoked spice and toasted almond. The mouthfeel is also a notch higher in terms of density, softness and richness. This wine is closer to the Vino Nobile side of the Montepulciano spectrum. The wine is a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot. Instead of oak, the wine only sees contact with cement and stainless steel.
