From a high-elevation site on Howell Mountain with thin, rocky soils that typically produces one of the wilder, more brooding wines in the range, the 2016 Zinfandel Rattlesnake Ridge is no exception. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of raspberries, cherries, wood smoke, grilled meat and burnt sage, the wine is full-bodied, deep and chunky, with a chewy chassis of stony structuring tannins, a layered mid-palate and a concentrated core of sun-kissed fruit.
