The 2003 SHIRAZ KAYOUMI VINEYARD is earthy and a touch gamey, a bit austere. With air, a hint of nail polish emerges on the nose. Considering that some incarnations of this bottling (like the 2005) struck me more as Barossa than Rhone, this is a very interesting wine that shows character as well as persistence and structure. It becomes quite powerful with aeration and I suspect the tannins will outlive the fruit. That said, there were moments in the middle where I found myself liking this a lot. With extended aeration (2 hours), it did become a bit harsh on the finish, which restrains my enthusiasm, but did not destroy it. I suspect the structural components will outlive the fruit, but this is certainly an interesting wine. Drink now-2013. There was no 2006 Limited Edition, as the winery did not feel the vintage warranted its production.
