The blockbuster 2001 Zinfandel Tom Feeney Ranch (a 345-case cuvee from a vineyard planted in 1926) was aged 14 months in French oak. It carries a “modest” 16.6% alcohol that is well-hidden by the wealth of fruit, glycerin, and extract. Full-bodied, thick, and juicy, with great purity, ripeness, and high-toned black as well as red fruits, this stunning Zinfandel (which includes a bit of Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouchet in the blend) should be consumed over the next 4-5 years. Kudos to Mike Officer.
