The 2016 NeroBaronj is a dark and saturated expression with aromas of dried cherry, plum and licorice. The bouquet is direct and sharp, and the wine avoids some of those more distinctive Nero d'Avola aromas such as scorched earth and black olive. Those variety-driven aromas are downplayed here in favor of more direct or pungent fruit (with a touch of buoyant volatility). Some 6,500 bottles were made.
