The 1995 Merlot appears to be the qualitative equivalent, perhaps slightly superior, to the 1994. Certainly the 1995 is more fragrant and aromatic. Jammy black-cherries, toast, and subtle herbaceous notes are followed by a wine with gorgeous layers of rich, glycerin-endowed, creamy-textured fruit. Deeper-colored than the 1994, but as structured, the 1995 possesses more extract and length. It should drink well for 10-12 years.
