The 2006 Torrontes “Don David” (Cafayate is where most of Argentina’s Torrontes is produced) is light gold-colored with a bouquet featuring floral notes, peach, and orange peel. Less flamboyant but more elegant than most Torrontes, the wine is dry, nicely balanced, has good acidity, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. Drink it over the next 12-18 months. Michel Torino was founded in 1892. Located in the Cafayate Valley in northern Argentina, the estate owns 700 hectares of vines, most of it farmed organically. Their offerings include several Best Buys noted at the end of this report.Importer: Frederick Wildman & Sons, New York, NY; www.frederickwildman.com
