The 2007 Verdejo is the first example of that grape variety to be produced in the DO. The grapes were sourced from a vineyard planted in 1998 with small yields of only 1.6 tons per acre. Light straw-colored, it offers up a nose of mineral and melon. This leads to a round wine with concentrated flavors and good balance. Drink it over the next 12-18 months. This has all the earmarks of a commercial white wine done well. It smells like cider, flowers and pear, while the sweet palate mixes in just enough zesty citrus and melon to come across as real.
