The 2003 Syrah is reserved aromatically, while exhibiting lots of smoky black fruits. Currently the tannins are hard which shortens the finish. If this wine comes together over the next two to four years, my score will look conservative. Dominio de Valdepusa, located near Toledo, was the first winery to be awarded its own D. O. Under the Marques de Grinon label, the winery produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Syrah. The 2002s were pleasant but the 2003s are clearly superior.
