Consumers who like French-inspired Australian Shiraz should buy as much of this wine as they can find. The grapes are from 80–110-year-old vineyards, the winemaking is by Dan Standish (formerly at Torbreck) and the results are heavenly. Aromas are floral—verging on herbal in the way of the northern Rhone—backed by blueberries. It’s creamy and lush, mouthcoating, while the complex flavors range from blueberry to raspberry and black olive to spice. Finishes long and peppery, with a dusting of fine tannins and uplifted fruit.
