The Castello Banfi 2020 Rosso di Montalcino opens to a lean or medium-bodied appearance and a dark ruby color. This entry-level wine shows just a tad more richness and concentration than usual, and that extra density comes thanks to the hot summer temperatures seen during this vintage. Dark fruit, scorched earth and a hint of black olive rise from the bouquet. This is an ambitious 680,000-bottle release.
