The 2005 Summa Varietalis is composed of 60% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Petit Verdot aged in seasoned French barriques for 10-14 months (with each variety vinified separately). It offers up a pleasing perfume of wood smoke, game, licorice, espresso, blueberry, and blackberry leading to a medium to full-bodied wine with outstanding volume, enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years, and layered, savory flavors. It will offer prime drinking from 2013 to 2020, perhaps longer. Marques de Grinon is the title of the renowned Carlos Falco who revolutionized viticulture in Castilla La Mancha at his Dominio de Valdepusa estate in Toledo. The latest set of releases from Marques de Grinon are outstanding with several of them qualifying as excellent values.Importer: Winebow, New York, NY; www.winebow.com
