An exotic offering is the 2004 Muskateller Auslese, from the same yellow muscat known to devotees of the Alto Adige or Pfalz. This wine practically assaults the nose with orange and tangerine rind, sage, and pennyroyal. Juicy and bright on the palate, with the bittersweet counterpoint of orange liqueur and tangerine rind, lemon oil, and the distillation of a veritable carpet of diverse herbs, the balance of bitter and sweet, fresh and honeyed, shriveled fruit in the finish here is quite uncanny.
