The concentration here is enormous, from low-yielding old vines. The wine has the characteristic pepper edge, but the creamy character, the ripe lychees and green plums, are all more dominant. At the end, a distinct spiciness shows through. Age ideally for 3–4 years.——R.V.(12/31/2009)—— 93

Weinrieder’s Alte Reben (old vines) needs at least a couple of years to really show at its best. This is now a complete wine, the obvious richness subsumed into the beautiful pineapple and pear skin flavors, with a rounding of vanilla.
