The 2009 Falerio Vigna Solaria is pleasant and soft in its generous apricots, flowers and mint. This harmonious, round white is best enjoyed over the next year or two while the fruit is vibrant. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012. Proprietor Angela Velenosi is one the Marche’s emerging producers. Her line-up is full of delicious wines that are reasonably priced. The 2007 Falerio Vigna Solaria (Pecorino and Passerina) offers up earthiness, smoke, minerals and ripe yellow fruits in a style that is more forward and lush than the Pecorino. Most of the wine’s appeal is up-front as the intensity trails off a bit on the mid-palate. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. These are the finest wines I have tasted from Velenosi, an emerging producer in the Marche that is very close to making a huge jump in the overall quality of their wines. Each bottle has a different look in terms of its label, and the estate could certainly consider a more consistent look for its packaging, which would make it easier for consumers and the trade to keep track of these wines. The nice thing is how this wine delivers so much fruit, especially peach, apricot and mature pear. The mouthfeel is creamy and sophisticated but the overall emphasis is on the purity and intensity of the fruit fragrances.
