The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Pirque Vineyard delivers notes of cigar box, leather, mineral, blackcurrant and blackberry. This leads to an elegant, Bordeaux-like wine with spicy, savory flavors, excellent balance, and a lengthy finish. It will offer prime drinking from 2012 to 2021.Terrunyo is a premium label owned by Concha y Toro. During my visit with Ignacio Recabarren, the brilliant vigneron behind the Terrunyo Carmenere project, I was able to taste all of the wine to date including the yet to be released 2007 Carmin de Peumo. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Pirque Vineyard is dark ruby/purple-colored and offers up an alluring bouquet of wood smoke, earth notes, cassis, and black currant. This leads to a plush, ripe, full-flavored wine with superb depth and enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. This potentially complex Cabernet should be at its best from 2011 to 2020. The purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon “Old Pirque Vineyard” has an expressive bouquet of smoky oak, lead pencil, and black currants. On the palate the wine is mouth-filling with layers of ripe, sweet fruit and oodles of spicy flavor. There are soft tannins leading to a lengthy, pure finish.
